Leon – the coolest hitman

I watched Leon tonight, first time in ages. I had the house to myself, cooked a pizza, and put it on.

Thoroughly enjoyed it the whole way through. If anyone hasn't seen this film, I'd say you should check it out. Jean Reno is great, and so is Natalie Portman and Gary Oldman.

I think Leon is about the slickest hitman I've seen on screen – his modest, slightly simple character helps this immensely – and when he's doing his job you're left in wonder at his very slick way of killing people.

It's strange, I'm not one for hugely violent films, but I think you feel a certain amount of detachment from the killing in this.

If anyone else can recommend good hitman films I should watch, let me know!

  • There's only one other hitman film I would recommend. It's an anime movie, but NOT meant for kids at all. It's called 'The Professional-Golgo13'. If you liked Leon, I think you might like Golgo 13 as well.

  • Hey there,Thanks for the recommendation – I looked it up on IMDB and it looks like it will be up my street.. now I just have to see if I can get my hands on it.Looking forward to it!

  • Ohhhh I almost forgot. If you liked Jean Reno's performance in Leon, I think you'll like his performance in Wasabi. I loved it, loved it, loved it. They weaved in a little bit of humor into parts of the movie, but they timed it so well. If you thought he was good at kicking keester in Leon you should see him throw fists, swing golf clubs, and yes he still packs some serious ammo.
