Today was an excessively long day of computer grinding. Whilst the sun was shining I was writing code and staring into the ever bright double pane of LCD in front of me..

Still it went well. I’ve just started some proper guided learning of PHP thanks to Ian at Kestrel ID, who’s giving me one-on-one training, and today I got to practice coding functions – with a lot of help from Milorad IvovĂc who selflessly gave his time in helping me work out a fairly simple use of PHP. There’s a very long WordPress support forum thread over here showing how much he helped out.

What a delightful way to spend a Friday, from morning til what, 2.40am.. Perhaps I should get out more.

We both should get out more.

As for the learning PHP thing, I’m not sure you could call what I did there ‘help’ ;) I’m a hack and what’s worse, I’ve been distracted by that pesky paid employment stuff to the point where my side-projects are really starting to suffer.

That’s just no way to live.

Anyway I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but that thread has almost doubled in length. It’s like a crazy ex girlfriend leaving you voicemail messages.

I’ve sort of used it as a place to dump some thoughts which might be of use to you, but which will definitely find their way into my next project. I hope you don’t mind my kind of running wild in there.

At the very least, it was a pleasure to find someone on those forums who was willing to be an active participant in their own solution. Cheers for that, and cheers for the plug :)

Hey I’m down in my parents for the weekend. Haven’t seen them in months so I better not be rude. I checked it out and there’s a whole lot of things to look over there. Looking forward to working on it when I get back home again.

    Thanks for dropping by :)

Have your say!
