Night pitch

Night pitch - Ballycastle - Photo by Alex Leonard

The multi-purpose all-weather pitch near my flat in Ballycastle, lit up by flood lights.

You can just make out some ghostly figures moving around on the pitch.

I wasn’t sure how this would come out – being a HDR shot late at night using long exposures and a fairly narrow aperture. Perhaps there isn’t so much HDR at work here, but I think it did add something to the photo.

There was quite a bit of noise in the top half of the picture, but I dealt with that by just burning it all a bit darker, which had the advantage of giving extra focus to the pitch itself – a tiny island of light in the darkness!

Any thoughts or feedback, let me know in the comments.

I want to buy this!

    I like empty places…

      Thanks for stopping by :)

Aye, there is something very pleasing about large empty spaces. In this case the emptiness is sort of faked.. as it’s a HDR shot some of the exposures were very long, so there were people there but they’ve disappeared due to the exposure length.
